insider group
A pressure group which has the opportunity to work closely with elected and appointed officials in national, devolved and local government. Insider groups have access to the key personnel who inhabit the place where decisions are made, are often recognised as the only legitimate representatives of particular interests and are often formally incorporated into the official consultative bodies.
